June 19. Clear and pleasant – warm. Had quarters at 9:30 and exercised at divisional drills – Wind blowing a gale early in the morning. An officer from the "Taurangle" came on board and asked would Capt Miller dress ship tomorrow in honor of the Queens Accession. Rain during afternoon. Went swimming at 8:00 went ashore with doctor, who visited the sick on shore - Read J's letters.
June 20. Partly cloudy, but pleasant. Very warm. At 8:00 dressed ship, and at 12 fired at 21 gun salute in honor of the Queen of England – German and English ships doing the same. Raining hard ever since morning. At 2:00 Mataafa and Malietoa Chiefs came on board, and a meeting was held between them in the boardroom of the ship at which they shock hands and rub noses in accordance with the Samoan customs, and made profession of good feelings towards each other. Both parties left ship about 5:30. Thunder and lightning all evening. Took doctor ashore as usual.
